Arrangements during the First and Second World Wars, 1907-1944
Scope and Contents
The file consists of typed correspondence with handwritten notations from the Catholic Education Council dated 1907-1918. They mainly concern the number of admissions to the College, grants and other financial affairs, as well as the practicality of laying down a minimum standard of educational attainments as a condition of admission. There are also many typewritten letters dated 1918 from the Women's National Land Service Corp. and the Board of Education concerning volunteers among Endsleigh students to harvest the flax that year; typed letters between the Board of Education and the college principal and the Superior of the convent concerning the suitability of Marvel Hall for accommodation of students and the return to Endsleigh; and other war time correspondence dated between 1943 and 1944.
