Opening and anniversaries of the new Bermondsey Convent of Mercy, rebuilt 1958, 1958; 1983
Scope and Contents
A poem (may be a song) entitled "December 12th" to celebrate the opening of the new Bermondsey Convent of Mercy in 1958. Catherine McAuley made her vows as the first Sister of Mercy on 12th December 1831 and the date is therefore significant for the Order. The poem is annotated by an unknown hand with ticks and crosses. Also included is a letter regarding the celebration menu.
Mass booklet with "Historical Synopsis" to celebrate 25th anniversary of the rebuilt Bermondsey Convent of Mercy, 1958-1983. Three copies of the booklet, one annotated "Sister M. Finbarr 19.11.'83" and one with an inserted napkin upon which the Mercy shield has been felt-tipped with a scroll of Bermondsey foundation dates.
