Research and publication of "The Letters of William Montgomery McAuley", 1985-1996
Scope and Contents note
M. Imelda Keena RSM, Archivist, researched and published "The Letters of William Montgomery McAuley" as he set sail for Australia from St Katharine's Dock, on the opposite bank of the River Thames from Bermondsey Convent of Mercy, circa 1839. The folders contain the proof and final publication, with two previously printed copies (ringbound). In the course of her research, Sr. M. Imelda contacted the McAuley family in Australia so there are photographs and letters of the family, some of which went into the final publication. Later letters from the family are addressed to Marion McCarthy RSM as Archivist. Also included are images of significant places where the McAuleys worked or lived, photocopied articles and photocopied manuscripts including the writings of William M. McAuley and a family tree.
