Scope and Contents

The file consists of 1. Brief typewritten annals of all the branch houses of the Sisters of Mercy within the Middlesbrough Diocese from 1856 to 1977; 2. One card listing all sixteen houses, the dates of opening and, where appropriate, the dates of closing; 3. Two typed copies of the annals of the Sisters of Mercy in Middlesbrough; and typed annals for January 1957 to May 1958; 4. Booklet 'the sisters of Mercy Diocese of Middlesbrough 1857 -2007' produced for 150 years of Mercy in the Diocese and has a history of each Convent of Mercy;

Some of the papers from 1956 onwards are a little torn, because of punched holes. The medium is paper, duplicate ink, ink, card and type-script.
