Photograph of Florence Nightingale Monument and notes.
Scope and Contents
The file consists of a copy of a photograph of a Crimean war memorial in Lower Regent St. & Pall Mall. There are notes concerning the memorial the provenance of which is unclear for the notes are attributed to Sister Barbara Jeffery yet within the text acknowledgement goes to George P Landow for both text and photograph. The memorial itself was by Arthur George Walker, an English sculptor and painter. accompanying the copies and text and the photograph, is a copy of a photograph of a memorial of Florence Nightingale by the same artist, and in the same junction in London. The framed photograph itself which hung in St. Mary's Ednaston has a number of interesting features .On the back of the frame is a label saying that the photograph must not be reproduced and that the copyright holder is A. G. Walker. There is a sticker on the back 'Hills & Plummer Ltd. oil, colour merchants, Queen St. Aukland'. Also on the back there is writing, some of which is missing, "St. Thomas's Hos[pital] ...... First College of Nursing ..... up."
