Scope and Contents

The series consists of five volumes which record decisions made that effected the sister's rule of life in the Wanstead community, and include constitutions, guidelines and Acts of Chapter.

Scope and Contents The file consists of three different books of the constitution of the Sisters of Mercy. The earliest, 1926 was printed by Browne and Nolan Ltd. It is a small volume of the constitutions used by the sisters in the UK in 1926. It has Tilbury convent's stamp on it; the second was printed in 1952 edition of the constitution of the sisters of Mercy Philadelphia, for the use of M Gabriel Cronin; and one slim volume of the constitutions produced at the beginning of the Institute of Our Lady of...

Scope and Contents

The file consists of one volume of the Customs and minor regulations of the religious called Sisters of mercy in the Novitiate House Carysfort and the branch houses. They were a supplement to the constitutions, they have the approval of the Archbishop of Dublin Edward, on 27 April 1928andhave the stamp of Wanstead convent.

The file consists of a record of the Acts of chapter from 09 February 1922 to May 1980. it is a record of decisions of the chapter of professed sisters of the community, mostly concerning whether a young woman be allowed to receive the habit or to proceed to vows; it also contains the results of elections for superiors.
