175th Anniversary of Foundation of Bermondsey Convent, 1839 -2014
Scope and Contents
The file consists of items which tell the story of three days of celebration from 21 to 23 November 2014 marking 175 years since the foundation of Bermondsey Sisters of Mercy in 1839 by Venerable Catherine McAuley RSM. They include, 1. A souvenir booklet of the order of service in Southwark Cathedral; 2. Invitation lists and cards, letters of acceptances and apologies; 3. Notes of the sermon preached by Canon Alan McClean 4. Letters of congratulations, and the itinery for guests of the Bermondsey sisters from Grafton and Perth, Australia, Jamaica, Ireland and the Mercy International Association. 5. The file also includes articles about the Celebration from the Cathedral Website, and another written by M Assumpta Walsh RSM. 6.The history of each sister alive in 2014 at the time of the celebration who entered in Chistlhurst. These are in the form of spirals. 7. Many photographs of the three days of celebrations.
