Scope and Contents

The file consists of photocopied correspondence with the archivist of the Catholic Children's Society (known as Cabrini Children's Society since January 2009) relating to the existence of girl's files and other Ave Maria records. It includes a photograph of the building in West Croydon where St Mary's Industrial School was located. The building has since been demolished. St Mary's Industrial School became Ave Maria. Also included is a photocopied image of children taken from the Society's annual reports circa 1920.

Conditions Governing Access note

Subject to closure for periods up to 100 years. Under the Data Protection Act (1998) access to Ave Maria Community Home records is on written application to the Archivist and approval by the Generalate of the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy GB.
