Buildings and maintenance, 1933-1983 inclusive

Correspondence and documents regarding maintenance and building works at St Mary's RC Primary School and Convent, High Street, Eltham, collected by Reverend Mother of the Bermondsey Motherhouse. The files also contain legal documents to support extensions and other building works; some school reports and inspections; minutes of governors meetings with staff appointments and dismissals.

The 1974-1981 correspondence has been kept in what appears to be the original order, with sections for Robert Sharp and Son, Chartered Architects (building matters); Harman Healy and Co, Surveyors, Estate Agents and Valuers (rental of property in Eltham with a passing mention of Bermondsey; St Mary's School); Badhams Solicitors; Inner London Education Authority (including minutes from two meetings).

The 1983 correspondence file concerns the sale of the High Street site and move of the school and convent to the former Ave Maria School site in Glenure Road, Eltham. The file also contains photocopied notes from the community's diary.

Plans are arranged with the correspondence where suitable; others are kept separately due to storage requirements.
