Drawings and schools, 1960-1970
Scope and Contents note
The file consists of three small photocopies of drawings of the convent and the church of Saint Edmund; and one large photograph of the children of St John Bosco School, Woodley 1969. The file also includes a large framed picture of Sir George Bowyer 1810 to 1883. On the back is written 'Our Benefactor who gave us our first convent here in Abingdon and the land for our school. He also built St. Edmund's Church and Presbytery and the Hospital of Saints John and Elizabeth, then in Great Ormond Street. Sir George is buried in the family vault in St. James' Church Radly, his heart is in the Church of the Hospital now in St John's Wood.' There is a framed water colour of Baron Court dated mid 19th Century, which was presented to the convent in 1983 by Mr Reg Hanley, the picture was given to him by his uncle who lived in Baron Court in mid 19th Century
