Scope and Contents

The file consists of photocopy of a twenty five sheet handwritten history by Reverend W.H Lewthwaite, of Clifford Convent and tells of the history of installing a community of ladies in a 'hostel' to run a school, and later Sisters of Mercy from Baggot Street, who a little later went to Hull; a history in the form of nine questions and answers from Sister Josephine RSM of St Xavier's, Providence, USA to Reverend Mother in Hull regarding the foundation of Clifford and Hull convents, and the nine handwritten answers from M Anastasia O'Hara RSM plus one typed copy.
