Scope and Contents
Documents regarding purchase of property and land:
1) Documents concerning Newland property, the corner of land adjoining Endsleigh estate, including a plan and extracts from "The Cottingham Inclosure Award", dated 24 August 1771.
2) Handwritten agreement between Miss Julia Kennedy and Mr Westgarth for letting a grass field at North Ormseby to Yorkshire County Council, dated 1886.
3) Handwritten inventory of fixtures and fittings of Endsleigh Newland, dated 7 June 1900.
4) Undated agreement between Yorkshire Estate Co and Mr Atkinson for the sale and purchase of land on Beverley Road, Hull. Includes a small plan.
5) Conveyance detailing past conveyancing of Analby Road, Endsleigh, Southcoates Lane, Beverley Estate, Normanby Estate, Whitby Estate, North Ormesby Estate, dated 17 September 1934 broken down into seven sections:
Part I. Anlaby Road Estate, one conveyance of 6 July 1929.
Part II. Endsleigh, Hull Estate, six conveyances of land dated between 31 August 1900 and 6 June 1929.
Part III. Southcoates Lane, Hull Estate, one conveyance of 29 November 1929.
Part IV. Beverley Estate, five conveyances dated between 1 February 1884 and 6 July 1929.
Part V. Crossbeck House, Normanby, two conveyances dated 14 October 1919 and 6 July 1929, from EC Huntingdon to Teresa F. Dawson [Sister Stanislaus].
Part VI. Whitby Estate, six conveyances dated between 6 April 1891 and 6 July 1929.
Part VII. North Ormesby Estate, four conveyances dated between 11September 1889 and 6 July 1929. North Ormseby Estate includes a second part dated 11 January 1933.
6) Copy of original conveyance between Mrs Walburga Rose Leonard, Judith Leonard, Dinah Leonard and Mary Martin, Mary McLaughling, Ellen Reilly, and Lois Bunyan, regarding land near Inglemire Lane, dated 6 June 1946.
7) Indenture in regards to Crossbeck House and lands in the townships of Normanby in the county of York, signed on 14 October 1919 by Teresa F Dawson RSM. (Handwritten copy of Part V of the early conveyance, item 5).
8) Letter from Endsleigh addressed to Right Rev. Monsignor Dunne, concerning war damage and estimated cost of damage to the Anlaby Road Chapel, dated 9 March 1945. It had enclosed a picture of Anlaby road chapel, here replaced by a page from a magazine with a printed photograph of the chapel, other photographs show the damage to St Mary's School Anlaby Road.
9) Copy of a completed application for Town and Country Planning, signed by 'Mary Martin' [Sister M Ninian], dated 03 June 1949.
10) Assorted documents, such as agreements and deeds of covenant, regarding the sale and exchange of land in Analby Road and the Hull area, between the Sisters of Mercy and various parties, dated between 1872 and 1898.
Also includes two examination paper booklets used as notebooks featuring handwritten notes regarding purchases of land by Julia Kennedy (M Magdalen RSM) and Teresa F Dawson (M Stanislaus RSM).
11) A letter from the Ministry of Town and Country Planning in 9 March 1947. [item not in box 13/06/2019]
12) Documents concerning the Closure of the Endleigh Convent, including ceasing of Foundation Masses; final bank statements, and a tree preservation order from the City Council, dated 13th November 1980. (Closed until 2045).

Paper, ink and type. The diagrams are on better paper. Some documents are a little dirty and quite worn at the edges and corners these are now supported in melinex, one small diagram is torn.

11. The letter from the Ministry of Town and Country Planning dated 9 March 1947 appears to be missing. 10. Accession #2019/15/08 The handwritten documents detailing many purchases of land mostly by Julia Kennedy [M Magdalen] and Teresa F Dawson [M Stanislaus RSM] hold interest of an educational nature because they are written into examination paper, books.
