The file consists of a set of letters and reports from the Board of Education to Clifford convent and school to M Patricia O' Donnell RSM, M Francis Guy RSM, Miss C Stanley and M Imelda Keena RSM, concerning the recognition of the school at Clifford as 'efficient' and what that entailed; and a set of four letter from the Board by John Crawford and Alec B Clegg to Reverend Mother concerning the future of Mr Allen the school and convent caretaker at the time the school was sold.

The file consists of a set of twelve letters from 26 April to 19 October 1950 concerning the status of Clifford Convent School and the Sister's unsuccessful efforts to be seen as an integral part of the schools system. The letters are between Alec B Clegg of the Board of Education, Reverend H Thompson and George Wilkinson, Ecclesiastical Assistant, and H B Burrows of Wooler and Co Solicitors.

The file consists of eleven volumes of Clifford school Magazine between 1938 and 1958, containing articles, pictures, photographs and advertisements. It was designed and published by The British Publishing company Limited, Gloucester. The earlier editions are called Mater Misericordiae Collgiate school; an inserted postcard from Valerie J Glover with information that the Reunion was to be held at Hazelwood Castle on 24 September 1995 'closed' is written on the card in black ink.
