Bishop Thomas Grant, 1870
Scope and Contents note
Printed articles and notices on the death of Bishop Grant in Rome, 01 June 1870. Two handwritten volumes containing copies of his letters, puzzles, anecdotes and retreat notes, plus letters from Florence Nightingale to Grant, as recorded by a Sister in his memory. Extracts from the Bermondsey Annals on Bishop Grant, being "Extracts from Letters, Sayings, Mementoes, Meditations and Pious Thoughts and affairs connected with the Community from the Convent Annals of our revered Bishop Grant of holy Memory 1851-1870". A handwritten volume entitled "A few recollections of our late holy Bishop" containing an extract from a letter and an extract of a review in the 'Month' about the Bishop. "The Farewell Gift of our revered Bishop" in the form of a very small piece of paper with words in faint pencil on the reverse.
