Notes on the history of Bermondsey Sisters of Mercy, Circa 1935
Scope and Contents
The file consists of typed notes entitled "The Story of Bermondsey Foundation" and "Notes from the Bermondsey annals", for which the authors are unknown. Handwritten notes in five hands on the history of the Bermondsey community, and a more formal write-up on "Old Bermondsey Abbey", apparently being a copy of a walking tour of historic Bermondsey. Also included is a 1923 ink and watercolour map of "London Street, Dockhead, and adjacent streets 1813" by John Fletcher, taken from 'Londina Illustrata', volume I, 1819.
