Bermondsey Annals, volumes I-III, 1839-1997
Scope and Contents
The file consists of four volumes, volume I begins with a narrative of the life of Catherine McAuley, known as 'The Bermondsey Manuscript', and is dated 1839-1856. Volume II is dated 1856-1905. Both volumes I and II are illuminated manuscripts. Volume III is dated 1906-1997 and includes information on the Mercy Shield and an article on Florence Nightingale from 'Nursing Illustrated' on 12 May 1939 (pages 317-320).
Volume IV runs from February 1997 to February 2011.
Volumes I and II were rebound in the 1990s and original letters removed from the volumes. The letters can be found throughout IOLM/BER sub-fonds.
