Scope and Contents

The file consists of one typed copy of 'A history of Catholic Hull' by Sister Cecily, and a recording on an accompanying audio tape; and two outsized rolls of paper, being timelines comparing the history of the Church, the World, England and Ireland, Sisters of Mercy, the Middlesbrough diocese, Endsleigh and Hull. The first roll gives dates from 1775 to 1900. The second roll gives dates from 1900 to 2000. The file also includes a photocopy of published material and the history of convents in Middlesbrough diocese, and a list of significant dates of the sisters in Hull, plus the story of the Sisters of Mercy in Middlesbrough by M. Madeline Guy RSM (blue ink), M. Cecily Dowling RSM, a historian, and M. Celestine Collins RSM.

Physical Description

Paper, card, photocopy, typescript, ink, and audio-tape Tthere is a tear in the corner of the extract from a book. The sellotape which was used to repair it has fallen away. The paper of the time lines are tearing and crumbling, the Document repair tape has had some success on the smaller tears and holes. Where possible the Blu Tac and sellotape has been removed. April first and sixth 20110 CH.
