Scope and Contents

The file holds five histories of Clifford, there are three originals two with copies; the duplicate version of another; and the fifth is from the Centenary Celebration of the Clifford Convent School. The file consists of a handwritten history of Clifford by Reverend W H Lewthwaite, as requested by the Reverend Mother [M Patricia O'Donnell RSM], in a bound volume with one printed copy of the same; a brief account of Clifford Convent and three branch houses, Carlton near Selby, and Doncaster and Denaby Main in South Yorkshire; a booklet for the centenary of Sisters of Mercy Clifford 1870-1970 which holds the history of Clifford Convent in the back, there is also a typed copy of the history; two copies of a short history of Clifford by M Aquinas Lennard RSM, one is hand written in an exercise book, the other is typed up and presented in a small decorated folder, it has a photograph of a church inserted and a 'pact to return to Clifford' dated July 14 1964; and a history of the Sisters of Cantley in Doncaster, and their roots in Clifford.

One marked copy of the m=Mass booklet has been appraised out and another has been moved to IOLM/DON/11/1

Good to fair

Paper, ink, type-ink,duplicate-ink, card, photograph, leather, board, and printed material. The cover of The original volume has red rust and the inside pages are discoloured slightly, but it is good for its age and the copy, exercise book, booklet and folder are in good condition, uncreased and clean. Duplicate ink has faded and is a little blurred but the paper is flat and uncreased.
